Voting In person. Pendle is taking part of a Voter ID pilot scheme, so you will need acceptable photographic ID to be able to vote. If you haven’t got any suitable photographic ID, then you can apply for a free Local Electoral Card. (You can apply online, or download a form for a Local Electoral Card , fill it in and send for one. Make sure you give yourself enough time to get a Local Electoral Card).
Deadline for Local Electoral Cards
The deadline to apply for a Local Electoral Card is Wednesday 1 May at 5 pm. No cards will be issued after that time.
Forms and documents must be sent to Pendle Borough Council by Wednesday 24th April. After that date, you must apply in person at Nelson Town Hall.
Voting by post. Anyone who is registered to vote can apply for a postal vote.
- Email elections@pendle.gov.uk to request a postal vote.
- Download a postal voting form and return your completed form to Electoral Services, Town Hall, Market Street, Nelson, Lancashire, BB9 7LG.
- You need to apply for your postal vote by 5 pm on Monday 15th April.
- BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR POSTAL VOTE … Don’t hand over your postal vote to anyone.
Voting by Proxy. Any elector can choose to vote by proxy for just one election, but you must have a valid reason, for example you will be on holiday and unable to return in time to vote. Download a proxy voting form.
Deadline for Postal and Proxy Votes
The deadline for postal vote applications is 5 pm on Wednesday 18th April and for proxy voting applications it’s 5 pm on Wednesday 24th April
The Elections
There will be an Election of Borough Councillors and an Election of Town and Parish Councillors.
