Arts – Crafts – Gift Fair at Pendle Hippodrome
The annual Arts, Crafts & Gift Fair at Pendle Hippodrome opened yesterday (Sat 16th Nov 2019) and is open daily until Sun 24th Nov. (Open weekends 11am-5pm and weekdays 11am-6pm). Admission is £1 per person, with accompanied children under 16 FREE. You’ll receive a small leaflet … which will allow free re-entry to the fair.
This fair looks fantastic and it was nice to see so many people there just a few hours after opening! There are goods from over 99 different traders on display and available to purchase. There is so much to choose from, it’s really quite impossible to attempt to describe them all.
Some of the volunteers that help at the Hippodrome (and this event) are also serving delicious home made food. On the Saturday, one of the offerings was cheese & onion pie (with all the usual trimmings). A bit gutted that we’d already eaten. No matter, we can visit another day for food …! Can’t go wrong here, everyone is so welcoming. This event is a fabulous example of the local community supporting each other but requires a huge amount of work from the regular volunteers at the Hippodrome, whilst being supported by so many others.
Not only does this fair give excellent exposure to many of our local artists, crafts makers, charities and micro businesses … but it’s also the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Pendle Hippodrome. And the Hippodrome itself provides do many services to the community.
It’s also the home of so much of our local talent – including the Pendle Hippodrome Youth Theatre.
Pendle Hippodrome Youth Theatre
Did you know that the Pendle Hippodrome Youth Theatre celebrated their 30th year anniversary on the 26th October 2019? We were lucky enough to be invited along – but one thing that oozes out from top to bottom is their level of commitment and passion. It’s quite infectious, you can’t help but love what they do.We have an amazing amount of talent amongst our local youth and this organisation does so much positive work with them, whilst also entertaining our community. Children are mentored, coached, encouraged and generally pushed to their limit to ensure they achieve. Take a look at them performing as part of the 30th Anniversary …
Those paying attention to the date will realise that the 30th Anniversary was held on the same day as the Halloween in Colne (2019) event! This makes our day completely manic – 14 hours in the community – but, luckily, we managed to attend both! We’ll be publishing pictures soon.
Pendle Hippodrome Wardrobe Department
Don’t forget that Pendle Hippodrome also hires out many of its costumes (and, on occasion, also sells them). So if you’re looking for a themed costume for a specific occasion … then look no further … you have an amazing choice right on your doorstep. Of course, the bonus is that you’ll be supporting a fantastic local cause.
If you want to know more about their services in this area, pop down to the Pendle Hippodrome on Mon night (7-9pm). The entrance is situated at the rear of the theatre, opposite the stage door.
