Colne Gala Queen & Princess win 1st Place at Skipton Gala 2019

Colne Gala Queen & Princess win 1st Place at Skipton Gala – 8th June 2019

Colne Gala Queen (Sophie Judge) and Gala Princess (Jada Barlow) scooped first place in their category at the Skipton Gala today.  Our Lancashire lasses are used to rain – worst case scenario is the use of a brolly! The girls were buzzing at their achievement and watched by their proud parents.

Not all of us made it to the Skipton Gala, but nevertheless, we’re all right there with you! Well done ladies!

Colne Gala – Sat 15th June 2019
Colne will be looking forward to seeing you at the Colne Gala next week (Sat 15th June 2019).  The Gala procession starts at 11.15am and will start at the Crown Hotel and proceed up Albert Road. (Schedule: line-up for the Sat 15th June 2019).

Sadly, I’ve arranged to scuba dive at the Farne Islands (diving with the seals) all that weekend with students from Manchester University. This is a bit of a personal disaster for me as I haven’t missed the Gala for as long as I can remember! But I’ve paid my money, so unless a storm blows out the East Coast, I’m diving. But one way or another, we’ll try to make sure that we get some photo’s! Maybe we’ll show you some photo’s of seals instead as a bit of a consolation? 😉

Skipton Gala
Of course, the Skipton Gala is a major event date in terms of the remaining Gala’s in the local area. There are only a few Gala’s left and they really need support & carefully looking after.  The Colne Gala Committee is always looking for volunteers to help out … head over to the Colne Gala Facebook page for more details.

Gala Queen Represents Colne
Being Gala Queen (or Princess) is more than just looking the part … both positions require some considerable effort and have a fair amount of responsibility attached to them. After all, they represent our town. Did know that our Gala Queen has already been busy representing Colne at local charity events?

Back in April 2019, she was at a local event in Burnley. That was a very well attended event and they were fundraising for Pendleside Hospice.  Our Gala Queen was pictured alongside Batman & her mum (quite rare)! Not forgetting, of course, many members of Basically Cheer & Fitness who were also supporting the event.
