Road Closures / Bus Routes: Blues Festival 2019

Road Closures

  • New Market Street will be closed on Friday afternoon but that is traffic dependant for unloading kit etc.
  • Albert Road and New Market Street are closed Saturday and Sunday from 10 am till 2 am. (Albert Road will be closed from the Crown Hotel & to just below the Duke of Lancaster).

The road loop around Craddock Street, past the Duke of Lancaster and to Market Street will remain open.

Buses at the Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival 2019
From Saturday 24th August 2019 at 10:00 until the end of service and on Sunday 25th August from 10:00 until the end of service, Albert Rd in Colne will be closed for the Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival, Colne. 

The buses will follow the diversion below during the dates/times as above:

The Witchway will after leaving the M65 stay on the North Valley up to Skipton Rd. Turn right on Skipton Rd and follow up the hill and onto Craddock Rd. Follow around the one-way system and onto Market Street where you can pick up as normal and then continue with the normal route. When returning to Burnley continue up Skipton Rd and use the Bus Stn. Then follow around the one-way system and back down Skipton Rd to use North Valley to the M65.

The M1 will use Whitewalls Drive and North Valley to Skipton Rd. Turn right on Skipton Rd and follow up the hill and onto Craddock Rd. Follow around the one-way system and onto Market Street where you can pick up as normal and then continue with the normal route. When returning to Burnley continue up Skipton Rd and use the Bus Stn. Then follow around the one-way system and back down Skipton Rd to use North Valley to Whitewalls Drive. 

The M2 will use Whitewalls Drive and North Valley to Skipton Rd. Turn right on Skipton Rd and follow up the hill and onto Craddock Rd, and then the Bus Stn. When returning to Burnley, depart the Bus Station and follow around the one-way system back to Skipton Rd. Then follow around the one-way system and back down Skipton Rd to use North Valley to Whitewalls Drive.  

The M3 and M4 will use Whitewalls Drive and North Valley to Skipton Rd. Turn right on Skipton Rd and follow up the hill and onto Craddock Rd. Follow around the one-way system and onto Market Street where you can pick up as normal and then continue with the normal route. When returning to Burnley, continue to Colne Bus Station as normal and then depart the Bus Station and follow around the one-way system back to Skipton Rd. Then follow around the one-way system and back down Skipton Rd to use North Valley to Whitewalls Drive.

Blues Train (Fri 23rd August 2019)
Leaves Colne at 15:11 to go to Preston for 16:21.
Train leaves Preston at 16:35 – heading to Blackpool South.
Train returns from Blackpool South at 17:13 arriving in Colne at 19:07.

Free Hop & Stopper Bus
Burnley Bus Company will be operating a free Hop & Stopper Bus service with low-level access between the Crown Hotel and Colne & Nelson Rugby Club. The service will operate on Sat & Sun from 11am to 7pm. (About 1 hour round trip, timings variable, subject to traffic & on a first come, first served basis).
